Through this scheme the government offers insurance protection and monetary support to the farmers of India in the case of their crop destroyed due to the natural calamities, pests & diseases. Farmers require to pay a premium of 2% and 1.5% for Kharif and Rabi crops respectively. For annual commercial and horticultural crops, the farmers require to pay a premium of 5%.
